About Jenn & Casey
Casey and Jennifer met in September of 1999 while Jennifer was attending the University of Akron and after Casey had just finished with his degree from Western Carolina University. While a seemingly harmless conversation started on an instant messaging program little did either of them know that it would soon bloom into the love they had both been searching for throughout their lives. They began emailing and IMing each other everyday before finally talking hours and hours on the phone. They became fast friends and realized that it was blossoming into something more.
In February of the next year, Casey finally told Jennifer those three little words that would change their lives forever. After many months of talking on the phone, emailing and IMing each other, they finally got to meet in person in Myrtle Beach in August of 2000. It was an unreal moment and both of them felt like they had known each other all their lives. With Jennifer going to school 10 hours away a long distance relationship was the only way they could be together.
After three years of phone calls and only getting to see each other on Jennifer’s school breaks, Jennifer finally made the decision and was accepted at East Carolina University. It was very hard to leave her family behind, but she left for the South in July of 2002. After some hard times and many, many miles on her car, they were finally able to move to Rocky Mount, where they both work and live now.
In August of 2004, they both went on vacation to Myrtle Beach with Jennifer’s family. They stayed in the same hotel where they first met! On the last night they were there, walking down the beach sunburnt at midnight Casey got down on his knee as the waves washed over their feet. He told Jennifer that she was the one he’s waited for all his life and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He wanted to know if she would spend the rest of her life with him and asked her would she marry him. She happily said “YES” and woke up all of her family in the middle of the night to tell them!
Jennifer and Casey were routinely asked if they had set a date yet, to which they replied, “not yet.” After the loss of Casey’s Grandma, whom they were both very close with, the couple decided that life was too short and it was time to decide on a date for their wedding after putting it off for so long. They ended up choosing November because it’s Jennifer’s favorite month.
