Update on Pathology Results
Dr. Atluri consulted with Harvard Medical School for a third opinion on Casey’s pathology results. The tumor was completely Seminoma! That means that he only has to have one 48 hour treatment of Carboplatin. We are beyond thankful to everyone who kept us in our their thoughts and prayers. The prayers worked and while Casey will have some side effects from the Carboplatin the treatment is the least toxic and least invasive. We couldnt be happy with the news. We’ll meet with Dr. Atluri on Tuesday to learn more. She really cared about Casey as her patient and she wanted to make sure that he got the right treatment and the right diagnosis. I can’t even stand think about the fact that if we had stayed in Rocky Mount and if I wasnt able to talk Casey into switching hospitals he could be going through Chemotherapy for something he didnt even have. I really just cant even say how thankful we are to Dr. Atlur, she has been amazing.

That’s awesome news indeed Casey (and Jennifer)! A bit of good news is always great, but this kind of news rocks your world. Cheers!

Prayers answered! You got the best advice and avoided toxic treatment. This shows the importance of well-trained and educated physicians. Without Dr. Atluri, you might be having unnecessary treatment! Soooooo happy and thankful for you both!

Thanks Dana! We were very thankful to hear the news and even more impressed that the 3rd opinion came from Harvard Medical in only 3 days. :)

I am so happy for you guys! You are in our prayers and thoughts constantly. Now that it seems like the first hurdle – getting Casey well again – is passed, we’ll start hoping that the bigger picture things – fertility issues, follow up treatments, bills – start coming together for you guys, too.

All our love,
Rena, James, and Jena Leisure

Hey Rena!!!

Thank you so much! We appreciate the thoughts and prayers so much. They are obviously working for us! It’s been a crazy journey but I believe he is now in good hands with the new doctor. I’m just really happy I decided to go with my intuition and convinced him to switch. I just have to keep hoping that things will work out in the end. That’s what this blog was about, convincing myself that it’s okay to hope and not be such a pessimist! How are you guys? I bet Jena is growing like a weed! I’ve love to see new pictures.

Much Love,
Jenn
